The Oral Health Care Triad for Adults with Special Needs - Assessment, Oral Hygiene Care and Dental Delivery Systems.

This presentation will outline an Oral Health Care Triad for adults with special needs. Attendees will be able to utilize in clinical practice the three key areas in this triad to improve the oral health of their special needs patients – oral health assessment, oral hygiene care provision, and options for delivery of dental care. Attendees will be able to utilize several oral health promotion methods and materials in their implementation of the Oral Health Care Triad.

Geriatrics and Dental Needs of Older People in Singapore

This presentation will describe Singapore's ageing demographics, and health and social care services for elderly. It will also discuss the challenges faced by aged care physicians when managing elderly patients who have dental problems and conclude with an urgent call for the local dentistry fraternity to meet the need for better oral healthcare among older persons.

The Ageing Frail Patient - Assessment and Rational Treatment Planning

This presentation uses a longitudinal case history to discuss the thought process needed to develop a treatment plan for an ageing frail patient.  The process of thought development has been called rational dental care because it requires the dentist to gather information as to how a patient is functioning in their environment and how dentistry fits into that picture.

Geriatric Minimal Intervention Dentistry

This presentation will describe the philosophy of Geriatric MID, preventive and therapeutic products for use in older patients, and restorative techniques for use in older patients. Attendees will be able to use the concepts of rational treatment planning and incorporate them into Geriatric MID, and provide a systematic approach for the management of their older patients. Clinical cases will be used to illustrate these Geriatric MID concepts.

Innovative Problem Solving in Prosthodontics for Older Adults and Adults with Special Needs.

This presentation describes the ageing patient and their prosthodontic needs.  It discusses the indications for prescribing a removable partial denture and the principals in designing such as prosthesis for an ageing patient.  The issues of patients who have denture intolerance and what can be done about it are also discussed.
