| RIDGE AUGMENTATION USING DIFFERENT BLOCK & GRAFT TECHNIQUES Symposium & workshop on Bone Augmentation Techniques Symposium Synopsis Ridge augmentation is a common adjuvant surgical
procedure for implant supported restorations. Among all the grafting
materials, autogenous bone graft still remains the gold
standard for a variety of alveolar augmentation or implant site
preparation. This lecture will focus on intra-oral donor site preparation, including mandibular symphysis, ramus(buccal shelf), maxillary tuberosity and zygomatic buttress. A “step by step” chin block harvesting will be introduced. B) Alveolar Ridge Augmentation by Intra-Oral “Tent- Pole Concept” by Dr Michael Chen In this lecture, recipient site procedures will be discussed in depth including how to create an “expanded soft tissue matrix” to accommodate the bulky grafted materials and how intra-oral“Tent-Pole” concept works well with autogenous bone grafts Vertical Grafting of Ring-shaped Bone Transplants by Dr Bernhard Giesenhagen The technique presented in this lecture will demonstrate that three-dimensional vertical grafts of bone defects and the placement of implant can be carried out in a single surgical procedure with exactly fitted bone ring grafts. The recipient site is prepared and the graft is harvested with trephine drills. The implant site is prepared in the graft before its removal from the donor site allowing rigid fixation when the graft is fixed at the recipient site by the implant. In order to achieve full treatment success, several requirements must be met. Hands-on Workshop on Ring Technique By Bernhard Giesenhagen Dr Giesenhagen will be conducting a hands-on workshop on Ring Technique for vertical augmentation with Bone Rings. This workshop will consist of lectures and video presentation on the technique. During the workshop, participants will be working on plastic jaws. Ring grafts will be harvested from the jaws and grafted at another site with an implant. In addition, opportunity will be given to do grafting using Bovine Xenograft. About the Speaker DR BERNHARD GIESENHAGEN did his dental studies at the Christian-Albrecht-Universität Kiel in Germany. He has a private practive in Maxillofacial Surgery, specializing in Implant Dentistry since 1980. He is currently the Medical Director of the Institute Pro Implant in Melsungen, Germany. DR MICHAEL Y CHEN obtained his DDS from the School of Dentistry, Kaoshiung Medical University, Taiwan in 1986 and his Masters degree from the Institute of Medical Science, China Medical University, Taiwan. He is presently the Chief, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Taichung China Medical University Hospital, Taiwan and Chairman of the Constitution Committee, Taiwan Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Chen has vast experience in the area of alveolar ridge augmentation and has lectured widely on this subject.
