| Memoranda of Understanding
Our Faculty has recently signed two memoranda of understanding. A research programme agreement and an agreement of cooperation with University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas was signed earlier in 1997. As a result, some students were able to visit the school during the holiday break.
With the Dental School of Loma Linda University, California, a memorandum of understanding for research, staff and student exchange was established in October 1997.
There is now opportunity for staff and students to benefit from the exchange of ideas and interaction with both these established institutions.
Faculty 70th Anniversary Celebration
1999 in the Chinese language is indicative of continued long life. For Dentistry in Singapore, 1999 will mark the continuing existence of the dental school, 70 years to be exact since it began humbly with 5 students in 1929.
We deserve to celebrate, all 1428 of us for as the Minister for Health, Mr Yeo Cheow Tong said during the 60th Anniversary, we have " contributed significantly to the high level of dental health in our nation". Having one of the smallest number of professionals has in fact allowed us to grow closer together - achieving camaraderie and fellowship which we hope will grow from strength to strength with each passing year.
The 70th Anniversary celebrations will span 21/2 days from 24th - 26th September 1999 which will include golf, an open house, a scientific programme featuring our own "overseas" speakers, a unique publication highlighting achievements of dentist and the traditional "bring-the-house-down" reunion dinner and a public forum to project the dental image in Singapore.
Each of us has a right to join in the celebrations and on behalf of the Faculty of Dentistry, I invite you to celebrate this happy and significant milestone with us. For more information, please visit the NUS website or you may contact Ms Celine Teng at Email Address: <script>EmailLink('email@example.com','')</script> or the undersigned at the abbove address. We will keep you informed of further developments.
We look forward to meeting you in 1999.
