Appointments and Promotions

Appointments

A/P Keson Tan Beng Choon has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Dentistry and Clinical Director of the NUH Dental Service for a 3-year term from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 December 2003.

A/P Jennifer Neo and A/P Grace Ong has been appointed as Vice Deans, Faculty of Dentistry from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 Dec 2001 and 1 Jan 2001 to 31 Dec 2003 respectively.

Dr Kelvin Foong has been appointed Sub Dean, Faculty of Dentistry from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 December 2001.

Prof Chew Chong Lin has been appointed Director, Graduate School of Dental Studies from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 December 2003.

Prof Loh Hong Sai was appointed as Chairman of the Committee for Basic Medical Sciences, Graduate School of Dental Studies from 1 March 2001 to 31 December 2003. He was also elected as the President of the Singapore Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine (2001 to 2002) and invited to serve on the International Advisory Committee for the 12th International YAG Laser Symposium to be held in China in Oct 2001.

A/P Teo Choo Soo was appointed by the Minister of Health as one of the Directors of the Health Promotion Board with effect from 1 April 2001 for a 3 year-term of office. He was re-appointed by the Vice Chancellor as Captain of the NUS Golf Team from 1 Jan 2001. He was also nominated as Faculty representative for the NUS Endowment Fund.

A/P Lim Lum Peng was appointed as Assoc Director, Centre for Development Teaching Learning for the period 1 Feb 2001 to 31 Dec 2002.

A/P Keng Siong Beng and Dr Loh Poey Ling have been appointed Clinical Coordinator, Teaching Clinics (CCTC) and Deputy Clinical Coordinator, Teaching Clinics respectively for a 3-year term from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 December 2003. A/P Keng Siong Beng has also been appointed Director, Centre for IT and Applications (CITA), Faculty of Dentistry from 1 Jan 2001 to 31 December 2003. He was also invited to be a member of the Dental Technology Technical Committee (DTTC) by the Curriculum & Educational Development, Institute of Technical Education.

SDSA Pwa Juat Sim has been nominated as a representative to participate in the Dental Surgery Assisting Training Working Committee to help formulate a suitable training programme.

Farewell
The faculty would like to thank the following staff for their contribution and services to the Faculty and to wish them all the best:

Dr Loo Siew May who left for further studies in Paediatric Dentistry in Australia. Her last day of service was on 26 Jan 2001.

Mr Lee Ah Peow whose last day of service was on 18 March 2001.

SDSA Wan Sok Meng would leave Dentistry to assume duty as Administrative Assistant at Cardiac with effect from 2 May 2001.

Mr Sukaimi bin Harun who will retire on 31 May 2001 after 54 years of service as a laboratory attendant.

Heartiest Congratulations
A/P Lim Lum Peng on winning the NUS Outstanding Educator Award for the academic year 1999/2000.

PSO Connie Lim Seow Hwa has been nominated (from positive feedback from patients) as one of the staff for this quarter "Service With A Smile".

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Tok Wee Wah on the birth of their second child (baby boy) on 18 Dec 2000.
