Faculty Award's Day
The 4th Faculty Award's Day was held at the Kent Ridge Wing Auditorium on the 28th August 2001 with Deputy President and Provost Chong Chi Tat as Guest-of-Honour. Other guests include the proud parents of the students receiving prizes.

Numerous awards were handed out that evening. The awards given to students were:
The two top presentations from the UROP groups who presented their research finding in the Faulty 5th Research Day in November 2000 were awarded prizes. One of the group did us proud when they clinched the second prize at the APDSA congress held in Japan in early August 2001.
This is the first year that the Dental Society Awards are being awarded. They are given to recognize students who have contributed to the Dental Society. A total of 19 awards were given to those who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the Dental Society.

Normally, there are only 2 awards at faculty level, but this year, there was a tie and the Faculty Teaching Excellence Committee decided that all the winners were deserving of the Excellence in Teaching award.
The event ended with research presentation by the two winning UROP groups.
Long Service to the Faculty
The faculty is truly blessed to be served by two very faithful and loyal employees. They are Mr Sukaimi bin Harun and Mr Lim Eng Bok. Both served a record of 54 years, probably the longest serving staff in the University!
Mr Sukaimi bin Harun aged 70 years old retired on 31 May 2001 after 54 years of service to the Faculty of Dentistry as a laboratory attendant (Operations Support Officer). It is truly a long service which was recognized with a merit award given during the Faculty Award Day in August this year.
He is a widower with 3 children. After his retirement, he spends his time traveling and pursuing his passion .. fishing.
"Pakcik" as he is fondly called will truly be missed by his colleagues as he is a very friendly, helpful and initiative person.
Mr Lim Eng Bok aged 70 years old retired on 30th September 2001 after 54 years of service to the Faculty of Dentistry as a laboratory attendant (Operations Support Officer). He was awarded a Performance Award for his valuable and tireless contribution to the Faculty during the Faculty Award Day in August this year.
He is a widower with 10 grown up children and 19 grandchildren. After his retirement, he spends his time overseeing his children's businesses. A truly good father!
"Ah Bok" as he is fondly called will truly be missed as he is well liked by students and staff alike.
