Malaysian Dental Dean, Prof A R Ishak and Vice Dean, Prof A B N Hayaty paid a one day official visit (Tuesday Oct 28th) to study the IT and CIS system adopted by the NUS dental school. The morning visit started with a meeting with Dentistry ITU staff led by A/P S B Keng who gave an overview of the NUS IT infrastructure and functions of the Faculty ITU. This was followed by an in depth discussion and demonstration on the Clinical Information System (CIS). The CIS was recently introduced by NUS Dental Faculty. The Dental Faculty is one of the first dental schools in the Asia Pacific region to go on a completely on-line computerized clinical record system. The CIS EXACT system has built in features for clinical records, GUI interface tooth and periodontal charting facilities, appointment bookings, wait list, fees and course of care treatment plans, authentication, and grading and clinical specialty forms. The Malaysian delegation was keen on our implementation policies and software customization. In the afternoon, the visitors met up with Dentistry Dean, A/Prof Keson Tan and Vice Dean A/P Grace Ong. They discussed issues of common interest of the two faculties. The two dental schools shared a common heritage in its early years.
