| Faculty celebrates Centennial Rag Day and Homecoming, August 6, 2005 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
It was the morning of Saturday 6th August, 2005 in which the NUS Centennial Rag day was held. Dentistry did the University proud by participating in full strength. The breakfast homecoming at MPSH started at 8.00 am with many of our recent graduates (2 tables of staff and alumni) attending. The Dean A/P Keson Tan also supported the function which was very well attended by the University community. At 9.15 am the crowd moved over to the Sports track where our Dental float (After the all night long flaot building) was proudly displayed fourth in line on the parade track. Dental Year 1 students and staff intermingled, chatted and exchange experiences of past rag days with many senior year 2-4 students also joining in. Many of our staff members including HOD, J Neo, staff B Mok, Rashid Tahir, Soh Jen, H Thean, Keng SB and NUH staff Egwin, postgraduates Ang CW, Boey PY, and many more recent dental alumni giving moral support to the team. Lim EC our video cameraman, Tok WW and Joseph were there to capture the moments on movie and film. It was a time to maximize the use of digital cameras and videos to capture the fantastic colored costumes and floats that were paraded. The Dental Train “Changing Times” as their theme was headed at the “front grill” of the train by a decorated pretty smiley wearing braces on front teeth. At 10.15 am the Dental Train and its first year dancers did their energetic performance at the podium area amidst the cheers from Dental team and welcome from visitors at the stadium. Many of our cheer leaders including, VD (AA) G Ong gave of their best yell during the dance performance. It was a lively dance item with the students wearing costumes of Pokka dot patterns, “Men in Black” to the futuristic silver metallic sheen ladies wear. The music accompaniment was typical through the age’s music…. Well done Year 1 freshmen and freshets for keeping up the Dentistry spirit flying high with the performance. The morning’s event ended with the arrival of our NUS Chancellor S R Nathan gracing the occasion. The following photo gallery is put up for your viewing. Report by SB Keng Photogallery
