This year’s Dentistry Faculty Research day was held on 27th November, 2003 at the 4th level auditorium starting from 2.00 pm. As expected this was the day of anxiety and anticipation. It was a culmination of the Students UROP (Universities Research Opportunities Program) projects where undergraduate 4th Year students do their presentations of their completed work.

Each group (Total of 10 projects) presented their research findings followed by a Q and A session of 5 minutes. The afternoon started with the introduction by the Vice Dean of Research A/P Kelvin Foong. Among those present were the Dean A/P Keson Tan, Heads of Departments and invited guests. The judges were A/P Jennifer Neo, A/p Richard Ow and A/P Lim Lum Peng.

Most of the students were most pleased with their effort although some of them had their projects finely scrutinized by the judges and audience. It was a day of intense questioning some of which were rather hilarious at times.

The half time session ended with the "High Tea" where students, staff and guests intermingled freely .A very successful ending to 2 years of research work carried out by the students under Academic staff supervision.

The winner of the best UROP research project went to the group studying "In situ evaluation of laser effect on the prevention of enamel demineralization using an intra oral model"

The final year students of the group were Ng Yuk Ching, Selvajothi d/o Veerasamy. Jeffrey Sng, Eugene Wee, Cecilia Zheng. The group was supervised by A/P’s Stephen Hsu and S B Keng.
