Synopsis
In the talk the speaker will
elucidate the following:
- Changing trends in caries prevalence in
5- and 12-year old children in UK and Europe.
- Data for prevalence of Tooth Surface Loss
(TSL), is this increasing or is there increased awareness?
What new innovations have come to light regarding the prevention
of TSL?
- Who gets caries? Caries is mainly distributed
in about 20 percent of the population. Who are these 20%,
what are their demographic and social backgrounds?
- What challenge does this pose for our clinical
management?
- Role of sedation and general anesthesia
in the management of high disease prevalence in some groups
About the Speaker
Professor Monty Duggal, obtained
his BDS from Patiala in 1983 and his MDS in Paediatric Dentistry
in 1986. He then immigrated to the United Kingdom and obtained
his FDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and
his PhD from Leeds University. He joined Leeds Dental Institute
as a Junior Lecturer in 1989 and is currently Professor and Head
of Paediatric Dentistry, Division of Child Dental Health, Leeds
Dental Institute. Professor Duggal has published over 65 research
papers in international journals. He is the author of ‘Restorative
Techniques in Paediatric Dentistry’. He is also a co-author
of a textbook on Dental Traumatology. He is an internationally
respected scientist and clinician and is invited all over the
world to give talks and courses on Paediatric Dentistry. He is
currently in Singapore as the 7th NUS-SDA Distinguished Speaker.
