Invitations to apply for the position of Dean, Faculty
of Dentistry, NUS
The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications
from pre-eminently qualified candidates for the position of Dean,
Faculty of Dentistry.
The University is looking for a distinguished and accomplished
dental professional who is a visionary and pragmatic academic
leader to lead the Faculty to new and greater heights of academic
achievement and excellence in the areas of clinical care, teaching
and research.
The selected candidate will be an internationally respected
scholar and clinician with substantial standing in local and
international dental circles. He or she will need to maintain
strong connections here and abroad and must have the ability
and determination to strategize and implement long-term plans
for the Faculty. Among other priorities, the Faculty is targeted
to increase its student intake at both the undergraduate and
postgraduate levels, and expand its clinical and research facilities
to meet the nation’s dental healthcare needs.
Began in 1929 as part of the King Edward VII College of Medicine,
the Faculty of Dentistry celebrates 80 years of dental service
to Singapore this year. It continues to forge ahead, led by talented
and dedicated Faculty staff whose experience and expertise help
to educate and prepare dental students for the dental healthcare
challenges of a cosmopolitan country.
In January 2008, the Faculty of Dentistry, the NUS Yong Loo
Lin School of Medicine and the National University Hospital (NUH)
were grouped under a common governance structure to form the
National University Health System (NUHS). The role of Dean of
the NUS Faculty of Dentistry will be to lead the institution
as it joins with its two sister organizations in transforming
dental and medical education, while at the same time translating
laboratory research into meaningful clinical applications so
as to deliver the best of clinical care to Singaporeans. .
