Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology

The Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology, offered by the Centre for Advanced DentalEducation, is aimed at providing a sound scientific grounding and clinical training in implant dentistry. This two-year part time course is designed mainly for general dental practitioners who are interested in the field of dental implantology. The Graduate Diploma is accredited bythe Singapore Dental Council as a “Displayable Additional Qualification (AQ)”

 

OBJECTIVES

On completion of the course the participant should be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

• Understand the science of implant dentistry and to apply the knowledge in clinical practice.
• Diagnosis and treatment planning in implant dentistry.
• Apply a multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients requiring implants.
• Perform the surgical stages of implant dentistry.
• Perform the restorative or rehabilitative phases in implant dentistry.

 

Entry Requirements

Applicants towards the programme must have –

• a recognized basic dental degree
• minimum five years of postgraduate clinical experience (candidate must be able to demonstrate appropriate baseline knowledge and skills in oral surgery and restorative dentistry and preferably have access to direct patient care)

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an admission interview in March/April to be conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry.

NOTE: At present, the course is offered only to dentists practicing in Singapore.

 

Other Requirements

All candidates applying for Dentistry should test negative for the Hepatitis B virus. Candidates who test positive for the Hepatitis B surface virus but negative for the Hepatitis B e-antigen are not eligible for the course. Candidates are to submit a current certificate of immunisation against communicable disease (Hepatitis B). Candidates must also hold current malpractise insurance.

Course Fees

Annual Tuition Fees: SGD27,600 per annum (inclusive of 9% GST, SGD13,800 payable per semester)
Students will also be required to pay mandatory miscellaneous fees. Please note that fees are subject to review by the University.

• Degree certificate
• Proof of five years full-time clinical practice after graduation (excluding internship) from place of employment
• Minimum of two Referee reports. To be uploaded via the GDA3 application portal
• Curriculum Vitae including recent photograph
• Documentary evidence of financial support in the form of a bank statement
• Current Hepatitis B status
• Copy of NRIC (Front and back)
• Goal statement (optional): You may indicate on what you intend to achieve from the programme, and how it may aid in your career pathway and any other additional points you deem necessary to add on to your Goal Statement.
