The 13th Faculty of Dentistry Symposium, held on 27 and 28 January at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, attracted 230 participants and 11 trade partners.
This year’s unique cross-disciplinary scientific meeting focused on “Pain: Inter-connections in Dentistry and Medicine”. Dental and medical practitioners interacted with one another to learn more about chronic pain and how to assist patients in their management of such conditions. Participants also gained valuable insight into the psychiatric and psychological challenges in pain management.
The key speaker at the event was Associate Professor Donald Nixdorf, from the University of Minnesota, who delivered a series of lectures on tooth pain, chronic orofacial pain and key findings in research.
Other noteworthy speakers included Dr James Tan and Dr Tay Kwang Hui from NUH Department of Anaesthesia, Dr Kewin Siah from Department of Medicine,NUS, Dr Tan Hee Hon from Faculty of Dentistry, NUS and Dr Lui Yit Shiang from Department of Psychological Medicine, NUS.
