International Association of Paediatric Dentistry 2021 Morita Award 2nd Runner Up – Dr Tan Bing Liang

 

Dr. Tan Bing Liang came in 2nd Runner Up for the IAPD Morita Award for his presentation titled ‘Utilizing Computer Simulation, 3-D Printed Teeth and Surgical Stent to Improve Premolar Autotransplantation Success in a Child with Hypodontia’ presented in IAPD 2021 Virtual Congress

 

In this work, Dr Tan Bing Liang and team utilised 3D imaging (CBCT) and 3D printing technology to simulate premolar autotransplantation surgery, and create personalized surgical guide and tooth replica to allow for precise location/positioning of the autotransplanted teeth. The combination of 3D technology and understanding of biology allowed for a successful premolar autotransplantation surgery as part of comprehensive care for a child with hypodontia (multiple congenitally missing teeth).
