The morning began with a welcome address by Assoc Prof Raymond Wong who introduced the objectives of the workshop, setting the stage for an engaging and interactive session. Following this, Assoc Prof Intekhab Islam and Dr Sng Jie Han Timothy delivered lectures on key topics, including principles of flap design, clinical selection of membranes for vertical bone augmentation, and the role of 3D printing in community-based dentistry.
Participant Dr Yeoh Eng Seng shared that he “appreciated that the workshop started by reviewing the fundamental principles of surgery. Additionally, it introduced new advancements that we can incorporate into our daily practice, which may lead to improved outcomes.”

Participants then took part in a hands-on session, where they worked with patient-specific models to simulate real-life applications of flap design and membrane placement. This session allowed them to practice transforming scans into models, customising treatment approaches, and handling materials commonly used in regenerative dental surgery. Assoc Prof Intekhab and Dr Sng guided them through the processes, providing insights on optimising surgical outcomes.
Participant Dr Jeremy Khoo remarked, “This workshop was a fantastic experience. The instructors were engaging and provided valuable insights, helping me develop practical skills in regenerative dental surgery. I highly recommend it to dentists eager to expand their clinical expertise.”
The workshop concluded with a review of the practical exercise and a closing note by Assoc Prof Intekhab, who reiterated key learnings from the workshop.
The Faculty thanks Osteopore and EssexBio for sponsoring this workshop.
