About the Research Laboratory

The Research Laboratory in the NUS Faculty of Dentistry is a flexible and fully equipped facility. All Principal Investigators may conduct their research proposals and projects in the Laboratory. Our research areas include Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Microbiology and Immunology, Populational Oral Health and Services Research, and Clinical and Educational Research.

Our Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of equipment and facilities to support our researchers’ work. These include essential equipment such as incubator, biosafety cabinet, plate reader and anaerobic chamber as well as advanced ones including clean room, 3D bioprinter, confocal microscope, rheometer and atomic force microscope. Our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities seek to provide support to our researchers so that they can generate high quality research data requirements.

About Us Dr Liu Fengxia (left) and Ms Nur Ashira Binte Abdul Rahman (right). Dr Liu Fengxia has more than ten years of research laboratory experience in Biological Sciences. She worked as a researcher in different research laboratories for ten years and switched to a laboratory management role in 2018. Ms Nur Ashira Binte Abdul Rahman graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Pharmaceutical Science) in 2020. Before joining NUS Dentistry, she worked as a medical technologist. As a Research Laboratory Technologist, she works with Dr Liu to maintain the laboratories' functionality and safety. “Research is creating new knowledge.” – Neil Armstrong.
