diverse backgrounds at an open event exploring the future of dentistry at a lecture titled &#8220;Dentistry \u2013 What Lies Ahead&#8221;.<\/p><p>The session commenced with a presentation delivered by Professor Chris Peck, the Dean of NUS Dentistry, focusing on the evolving landscape of dentistry. Prof Peck delved into the remarkable advancements in biomedical sciences and technology, highlighting staggering statistics such as the annual publication of over 120,000 research articles in dentistry alone. Attendees explored how these advancements are changing the field, including the development of new materials and medications and the use of cutting-edge equipment and treatments.<\/p><p>Central to the discourse was the recognition of Dentistry&#8217;s changing landscape in response to societal shifts, especially in the context of a super-aged nation. As healthcare needs evolve within communities, dentistry stands at a pivotal juncture, tasked with developing strategies to enhance health and well-being through comprehensive oral, dental, and craniofacial healthcare services. Importantly, there was discussion on the need for a much greater preventive focus, and different models to achieve this.<\/p><p>The event emphasised important takeaways, urging our alumni to understand and support the crucial role of dental research in clinical practice and evidence-based methods for better patient outcomes.
