About ORAD DDx©
ORAD DDx© is a diagnostic aid that was developed to assist oral health care providers in developing differential diagnoses (DDx) for lesions seen on dental radiographs.
ORAD DDx© is currently limited to approximately 50 intraosseous entities and lesions within the maxilla or mandible. At this time, conditions specific to the maxillary sinuses, TMJs, dental anomalies, soft tissue lesions and systemic conditions are not featured in ORAD DDx©.
Instructions:
- The left side of the page contains Descriptors that act as filters for the lesions. Definitions can be found next to the filters when you click on the (?) icon.
- Select the Descriptors that are the best match for what you see on the radiograph.
Note: “Border cortication” and “Locularity” only appears when “Radiolucent” or “Mixed” is selected - By selecting more Descriptors (filters), the more specific the lesions will be. (Fewer lesions will be displayed).
There are some combinations where even the maximal use of filters will still result in a large number of lesions remaining in the list, due to the large number of possible lesions that match that description (e.g. Single, well-defined, radiolucent, uni- or multilocular, corticated lesions). In these situations, you can select the “Show common lesions only” to hide the less common lesions.
- You can Save Your Searches by clicking on the button in the right hand column. This will provide a URL that will bring you back to the same Results page.
