“My first donation of $2,000 was to the Class of 72 Professorship Fund in 1997. I also gave to the Charlie Lau Kieng Heong Memorial Fund in 2001.

Giving to the Faculty through the NUS Development Office is part of my giving to charities and an extension of my giving of Tithes (10th) to the Local Church and Free Will Giving.

I was told about 4-5 years back that whilst the annual fees per Dental student in FOD was $23,500, the subsidy from the Government/State was $500,000 annually per Dental student (Dentistry being the most heavily subsidised course in NUS!).  To whom much is given, much is expected so live simply and give generously and sacrificially!

Hence giving to NUS, my Alma Mater is payback time and paying it forward in gratitude, and, investing in future Dental Health personnel for the public good.”
