Past and present Dentistry leadership at the 95th Anniversary Carnival |
On 12 October 2024, NUS Faculty of Dentistry hosted a vibrant 95th Anniversary Carnival, bringing together approximately 300 staff, alumni, students, and their families to celebrate nearly a century of dental education and innovation. Held across the 9th and 10th floors of the Faculty building, the event was one of the key celebrations this year, marking a significant milestone in the Faculty's history.

Organised by Senior Lecturer Dr Chris Quek, who led the organising committee of the carnival, the day kicked off with his opening address, followed by a warm welcome speech from Dean Professor Chris Peck.
Dean Prof Peck on the significance of the event, “I’m incredibly proud to be part of Singapore’s dental school, and to be able to celebrate 95 years of positively impacting the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve. This is only possible because of our students, staff and partners at the two national dental centres, private practice, industry, government and community”
Dr Quek explained, “This carnival is not just about fun and games—it’s about the sense of unity and camaraderie that defines our Faculty.”

The festivities continued with an engaging quiz hosted by Dr Ishreen Kaur, where participants tested their knowledge of the Faculty’s rich history. The interactive quiz offered a lively and educational start to the celebrations, with participants enjoying the chance to showcase their familiarity with the Faculty’s achievements and milestones.

After the cake cutting, attendees were also free to explore the carnival. With a variety of games, delicious carnival snacks, and ample opportunities to reconnect and network, there was something for everyone.

Students also added to the festive spirit by putting on performances, showcasing their talents and contributing to the lively atmosphere.
The event not only celebrated the Faculty’s legacy but also fostered a sense of community, with past and present members coming together to honour the contributions and milestones that have shaped its journey over the last 95 years.
