NUS Benefactor Campus Experience 2018

The Faculty hosted visitors under the NUS Benefactor Campus Experience 2018 programme on 25 Aug 2018.

After a brief presentation by Dean, Professor Patrick Finbarr Allen, the visitors toured teaching facilities like the Simulation Lab (SIMLAB). They also tried the dental Haptics simulators that use virtual reality to create a sense of touch to mimic the experience of drilling a tooth. The visitors were also introduced to the Faculty’s use of in-house developed augmented reality, “DentistARy”, to support training. One was the local anaesthetic training simulator, and the other was the eye-tracking system that record the students’ visual focus and attention. The latter is particularly valuable in the teaching of x-ray image analysis.

The visitors also toured the newly completed National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) before attending the Appreciation Lunch hosted by NUS President.
