NUS Faculty of Dentistry recently hosted its annual Donor Appreciation Dinner to celebrate the spirit of giving from alumni and friends of the Faculty. The event, which brought together our community of donors, faculty members, and students, honoured those who have contributed to our mission to advance dental education, research, and healthcare.
At NUS Dentistry, our commitment to excellence is strengthened by our donors’ support. Every contribution tells a story — a story of generosity and a shared commitment to creating a brighter future for the health and well-being of Singaporeans and beyond. To celebrate these champions of change, the Faculty held the Donor Appreciation Dinner 2023 at The Royals Bistro (NUS) on Friday, 3 November 2023.
The evening started with a welcome address by the Dean of NUS Dentistry, Professor Chris Peck, who expressed his appreciation to the donors for their valuable partnership through the years.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the generous donors who have made a significant impact on the health and well-being of Singapore. As donors, your contributions have played a pivotal role in empowering deserving students to embark on their educational journey in the field of dentistry at the Faculty. What makes these bursaries so meaningful is that they open doors to the brightest and most promising young minds, regardless of their backgrounds," he said.
He went on to shed light on the future of the Faculty, highlighting the institution's research and education, which aligns with Singapore's overarching vision of a 'Healthier SG' and enhances the well-being of its citizens.
Mr Kean Loo Wee recounted how the donations have transformed his learning journey.
Our student recipients then shared the transformational and profound impact each donation had on their educational experience at the Faculty.
“I wish to extend my profound gratitude to our esteemed donors for their invaluable financial support. Your generosity has been a lifeline, significantly alleviating my financial burdens associated with school fees and daily expenses. It has liberated me to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to my studies, enabling me to enrich my learning experience. This support has not only lightened my financial load but also ignited my passion for dentistry, serving as an unwavering source of motivation to relentlessly pursue excellence in all facets of my educational journey," shared Mr Kean Loo Wee, a second-year dental student.
Beyond celebrating donors and their contributions, the Dinner offered students, dentistry staff, and donors an excellent opportunity to interact and foster a deeper sense of partnership and shared vision.

With the donors’ robust support, the Faculty strives to shape a future where its collective efforts will continue to create ripples of positive change and impact the dental and healthcare landscape.
