Promotion of Health and Wellness

The Faculty prioritises the well-being of its staff and has implemented health and wellness activities to promote cognitive, emotional, and physical health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Faculty has partnered with the National University of Singapore and the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore to develop a “Love Your Mind, Body, Soul” programme. Seven online workshops were conducted, including mindfulness practice, virtual cooking demonstrations, and ergonomics workshops. The Basic Health Insight Survey in 2022 allowed us to understand staff's baseline health status better and design relevant programmes and work practices. These programmes enabled staff to understand wellness concepts better, maintain good health, manage stress, and handle challenging situations. We also organised the Step Challenge in 2022 and encouraged various interest groups (like the Running Interest Group) to maintain an active lifestyle.

Moving forward, the Faculty plans to continue promoting the overall health of staff through more engaging activities.

Building a Culture of Safety in the Workplace

The Faculty aims to build a safety culture by empowering staff and students to have a greater say in their place of study and work. They are encouraged to contribute ideas and suggestions to improve safety through initiatives such as the Safety Poster Competition.  We also promote safe practices at the workplace through Cross-inspection Competitions. Simultaneously, the school instituted regular "Gemba Walks" in 2021 for the safety team and management to inspect safe practices on the ground. The goal is to ensure safe practices and identify areas of improvement.

The Faculty hopes that these measures will gradually inculcate a culture of safety in the workplace, making it a top priority for all staff and students.
