I am a student/researcher in a field outside of dentistry. Am I still eligible for the programme?

 Yes. BLOOMS: A Faculty of Dentistry Discovery Series 2023 is open to postgraduate students or professionals interested in the latest innovations within the field of dentistry and biomedical research.

 Do I need to submit proof of my English language proficiency

 No, you are not required to submit proof of your English language proficiency.

 I am both studying for a postgraduate degree and working full-time. Am I eligible for the programme as a student

 Yes, you may apply to us as a student. You will be required to submit proof of student status if your application is successful.

How do I apply for the programme?

You may apply for BLOOMS Discovery Series 2023 here.

What do I do after I have applied for the programme online?

You will be notified of your admission via email. Due to limited slots, applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. 

Accepted applicants will have to pay the programme fee in full within 10 days after receiving the acceptance offer, which will be issued starting November 2022.

What items do I have to submit for the online application?

Please prepare the following items:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) information
  • 200-word brief write-up (explaining your motivations for joining the programme)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (in PDF or images)

If my application is successful, are there other items I need to submit for the application?

Yes. For successful applicants, you will be informed to submit the following information at a later stage after your notification of acceptance into the programme:

  • Credit card number
  • Medical history
  • Emergency contact
  • Passport details
  • Flight details
  • Health insurance
  • Student status letter from home university

Are there any scholarships or financial assistance for NUS students and international students who are interested in the BLOOMS Discovery Series 2023?

There are no scholarships or financial assistance for both NUS and international students.

I am an international student. Do I need to apply for a student visa or tourist visa on my own?

You are required to apply for an entry visa to Singapore if you are holding a passport from a visa-required country. You are not required to apply for a student visa. Please note that you are required to pay the application fee for the visa as imposed by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore.

What are the available modes of payment for the programme fee?

Payment can be made via credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Amex) for successful applications.

Can I withdraw my application after I have submitted the form or accepted a position in the programme?

Yes, you may. Please write to den_research@nus.edu.sg to notify us of your withdrawal.

Will I get a refund after I have made payment if I withdraw from the programme?

Regardless of your reasons for withdrawal (e.g. change in work or study schedule, visa rejection etc.), the following withdrawal policy applies after acceptance into the programme:

Full refund minus SGD50 (administrative charges) for withdrawal made in writing and received by den_research@nus.edu.sg before 8 January 2023 (Sunday). No refund request will be entertained after this date.

Where will successful applicants be staying if they request for on-campus accommodation?

Successful applicants who request for on-campus accommodation will be allocated housing at the National University of Singapore’s University Town.

Is on-campus accommodation compulsory?

No, it is optional for both NUS and international attendees. International attendees are to seek your own off-campus housing if you choose not to stay on-campus at your own expense.

Can I choose the type of accommodation on-campus?

No, the type of accommodation provided is subject to availability.

Does the accommodation cost include meals?

No, meals are not available during summer programmes. Lunch will be provided by the Faculty of Dentistry as part of the programme for all three days, including a Welcome Dinner on the first day.

What are the options for off-campus housing?

The NUS Hostel Admission Services has prepared a list of contacts and resource references to help facilitate your arrangement for alternative accommodation.

Can I stay longer in Singapore after the programme?

Yes, you may. Attendees planning to stay in Singapore are to arrange their own accommodations after the programme.
