Undergraduate students Soh Tian En, Gladys, Matthias Chen Wei Jin, Sim Ming Liang Jeremy, and Ang Kai Yuit from the Faculty of Dentistry were awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher (OUR) Prize 2016 (Group Category) for their project titled “Risk of Labial Plate Perforation and Aesthetic Risk in the Maxillary Anterior Region: Effect of Implant Diameter and Prosthetic Design”. This project was supervised by Dr Fu Jia Hui and Dr Roxanna

Undergraduate Student, Timothy Sng Jie Han was awarded Best Presentation and 1st Prize in Competitive Scientific Poster Competition during the International Dental Exhibition and Meeting (IDEM) 2016 for his project presentation titled “The role of pericellular matrix molecules and their distribution in temporomandibular joint”, supervised by Dr Toh Wei Seong.

IDEM is the leading dental exhibition and conference in the Asia Pacific.

Research Attachment from Singapore Polytechnic, Goh Chen Yun was awarded 2nd Prize in Competitive Scientific Poster Competition during the International Dental Exhibition and Meeting (IDEM) 2016 for her project presentation titled “Cytotoxicity evaluation of bulk-fill composites using fibroblasts derived from human embryonic stem cells”, supervised by Dr Toh Wei Seong.

Research attachment student from Nanyang Polytechnic, Mr Muhd Kamal Bin Solehan, supervised by A/P Vinicius Rosa, had been selected as 1 of the 10 project winners for the yearly Polytechnic Student Research Program (PSRP). PSRP aims to nurture students in research and development through an immersion in a scientific and engineering research environment.

PhD student, Dr Zhang Shipin won the Young Investigator Award during the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT) 2016 with her project presentation titled “Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes Promote Orderly Cartilage Regeneration In An Immunocompetent Rat Osteochondral Defect Model”, supervised by Dr Toh Wei Seong.

ISCT was formed with the aim of bringing industrial professionals together to improve patients’ lives.

Undergraduates Goh Hui Yi Clara, Haw Sue Yi, Ren Jiamin, and Leong Jin Ni won 3rd prize in the 2nd China- ASEAN Excellent Young Dental Student Forum in 2016 with their project presentation titled “Distribution of Smile Types in the Singaporean Population and its Correlation with Lip Length and Mobility”, supervised by Dr Fu Jia Hui.
