Undergraduate students Chia Xue Yin, Eng Yu Zhen, Dawn Anne Yip Xinying, Yeo Boon Kiat Brandon from the Faculty of Dentistry won the First Prize in the Student Challenge Poster Presentation category at the 30th Annual Scientific Meeting of the SouthEast Asia Association for Dental Education SEAADE 2019 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for their project titled “Faculty of Dentistry Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP): Students’ and Graduates’ Perspectives”
This project was supervised by Dr. Tong Huei Jinn and A/P. Wong Mun Loke.

Prosthodontic resident Dr. Janice Tan Zhi Hui won the Best Poster Award at 18th Biennial Meeting of the International College of Prosthodontists and 43rd Annual Meeting of the European Prosthodontic Association held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Her poster titled ‘3D Positional and Mating Accuracy of Intraoral and Laboratory Implant Scan Bodies’ focused on the effects of torque application on the 3D positional accuracy of scan body systems to improve the fixtures of implants and replicas. This project was supervised by Dr. Tan Ming Yi.

Dr. Toh Wei Seong is awarded Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Scholars Award. As part of the award, he was hosted by Prof. Tunku Kamarul Zaman, Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Dr. Toh gave two invited research presentations at the MOA Orthopaedic Research SIG and TESMA Seminar Series, and at the 2nd Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Postgraduate Research Symposium 2019. He shared his work with many extracellular vesicles (EV) enthusiasts and many of whom are inspired to embark on EV research in their projects.

Our undergraduate student Cassandra Yeo won the 2nd Prize for Joseph Lister Award in Oral Disease Prevention at the IADR-SEA & SEAADE Conference held in Brisbane, Australia for project titled “Relevance of Diabetic Screening for Periodontal Patients in a Dental Setting: A Systematic Review”. She presented her UROP project on behalf of her team members Lea Tan, Zhang Yi. This project was supervised by Dr. Fu Jia Hui.

A/P. Vinicius Rosa is appointed as one of the members of Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics (JOE). JOE is the official journal of the American Association of Endodontists.

Undergraduate students Charmaine Peh Huimin, Charlene Sia Si Qin, Cao Jingyue from the Faculty of Dentistry were awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher (OUR) Prize for their work on the project titled “Ideal Timing for Implant Placement: A Systematic Review”. This project was supervised by Dr. Fu Jia Hui and Dr. Julie Yip

A/P Tan Kai Soo and her research team’s work on “Role of Oral Microbiota in the Severity of Chemotherapy-Induced Oral Mucositis” received a special mention via a press release made by IADR following the 96th General Session of the International Association for Dental Research held in London, England.
