The NUS Faculty of Dentistry offers a comprehensive research programme which leads to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.
The Faculty’s three key research themes are Value-Driven Care, Novel Diagnostics and Therapeutics, and Craniofacial and Oral Health Surveillance. These are driven by research groups with expertise in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Microbiology and Immunology, Population Oral Health and Services Research and Precision Dentistry.
Research students may be admitted as full-time or part-time students. However, international students on student pass must pursue their studies on a full-time basis. The minimum period of candidature is 3 years and the maximum period is 5 years for both full-time and part-time options.
Important: Research candidature does not involve any clinical work in Singapore. Research students are also not permitted to perform clinical work during their time in Singapore.
