Undergraduate students Alexander Mark Lee Lin Kai, Chung Changsun, Koh Pei Qin Klara & Ng Shi Qi Celeste from the Faculty of Dentistry were awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher (OUR) Prize 2020 for their work on the project titled “Effect of Enamel Hindrance of Light Over Curing Depth of Bulk-fill and Conventional Composites” supervised by A/P Dr Vinicius Rosa.

Dr Chaminda Jayampath Seneviratne’s article “Transcriptomics Analysis Reveals Putative Genes Involved in Biofilm Formation and Biofilm-associated Drug Resistance of Enterococcus faecalis’ has been selected for an Honourable Mention at the upcoming 2018 Journal of Endodontics Awards event at Denver on 25 April 2018.

AP Tan Kai Soo and her research team’s work on “Role of Oral Microbiota in the Severity of Chemotherapy-Induced Oral Mucositis” received a special mention via a press release made by IADR during the conference.

PhD candidate Dr Kassapa Jayo Bandara Ellepola won the IADR Colgate Research in Prevention Travel Award at the 96th General Session IADR in 2018 for his project presentation titled “OMICS-analysis unravelling synergistic carbohydrate metabolism in Streptococcus mutans-Candida albicans mixed-species biofilms”, supervised by Dr. Jaya Seneviratne.

PhD candidate Dr Jacob Chew Ren Jie won the IADR Lion Dental Research Award at the 96th General Session IADR in 2018 for his project presentation titled “MSC Exosomes Modulate PDL Cell Behaviour: Implications for Periodontal Regeneration”, supervised by Dr Toh Wei Seong.

PhD candidate Dr Dr Zhang Shipin won the 1st prize in Senior Group of Bernard G. Sarnat Award in Craniofacial Biology at the 96th General Session IADR in 2018 for his project presentation titled “MSC exosomes alleviate pathological joint degeneration in rat TMJ osteoarthritis”, supervised by Dr Toh Wei Seong.

PhD Candidate Dr Klara Koh Pei Qin won the IADR-SEA Unilever Hatton Divisional Award Junior Category at the IADR-SEA & SEAADE Conference 2018 along with her team Alexander Mark Lee Lin Kai, Chung Changsun, and Ng Shi Qi Celeste for their project presentation titled “Effect of Enamel Hindrance of Light Over Curing Depth of Bulk-fill and Conventional Composites”, supervised by Dr Vinicius Rosa.

PhD Candidate Dr Lai Su-Hsyen Cheryl is the winner of the Best Oral Presentation at the IADR-SEA & SEAADE Conference 2018 for her project presentation titled “Bridging Cognitive Skills Gap in Radiographic Interpretation of Impacted Maxillary Canines with 3D Printed Models” together with her team Lai Su-Hsyen Cheryl, Loh Jing Wen Therese, and Ho Xin Hui Clarissa and supervised by AP Kelvin Foong, AP Yen Ching-Chiuan (Division of Industrial Design) & Mr Tok Wee Wah.

PhD Candidate Chen Wei Ting won 2nd Place in the 2018 Dentsply Sirona Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its Application (SCADA) at the IADR-SEA & SEAADE Conference 2018 along with her team Koh Su En Abigail, Tan Jia Ying, and Quah Bernadette for their project presentation titled “Novel Probiotic Based Antifungal Agent for Oral Candidiasis”, supervised by Dr CS Jaya and co-supervisor Dr Nityasri Venkiteswaran.

A/P Vinicius Rosa has been appointed Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Dental Research (JDR). He was invited to serve on the board due to his history of publications in reputable journals such as Dental Materials, Carbon, 2D Materials, Nanotoxicology and others.

AP Vinicius Rosa’s Papers Ranked in Top-cited Papers in Regenerative Endodontics

Two of AP Vinicius Rosa’s publication papers were ranked in 26th and 98th places in Journal of Endodontics’s 100 most cited paper in the area of Regenerative Endodontics, as part of the study titled “Top-cited Articles in Regenerative Endodontics: A Bibliometric Analysis”.

Dr Sriram Gopu received the 2018 IQ Consortium and AAALAC International Global 3Rs Award together with his collaborators in Baltimore for their work on "Full-thickness human skin-on-chip with enhanced epidermal morphogenesis and barrier function”. This achievement recognises the team’s efforts in developing novel technologies at the interface of microfluidics and tissue engineering for significant innovative contribution towards the 3Rs (Refine, Reduce, Replace) of animal research.
