Third-year dental student Shen Jia Jing won the 2022 European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) Undergraduate Essay Competition, under the supervision of Associate Professor Fu Jia Hui. The essay title was “How can the clinical practise and science of Periodontology be developed to ensure environmental sustainability?”

PhD candidate Dr. Hardik Makkar won the IADR-SEA Division Hatton Award (Senior Category) at the 2022 IADR/APR General Session Virtual Experience for his project presentation titled “Gingival Crevice-on-Chip to Biomimic Periodontal Host-Microbe Interaction”. This project was supervised by Assistant Professor Gopu Sriram; and presented virtually at the 2022 IADR/APR General Session Virtual Experience.

PhD candidate Priti Pragati Rath has won the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Kulzer Travel Award 2022 for her work on Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN) carrying Acyclovir, a low soluble drug, titled “Optimization of acyclovir loaded solid lipid nanoparticle for sustained release”, supervised by A/P Vinicius Rosa.

Dr. Boey Sean Kuan was awarded the second prize in the first-ever EFP Innovation Award for Digital Solutions for Gum Health. Her winning project, "The Dental Tracker, a mobile application for the patient, dentist and periodontal researchers", allows everyone to use fuss-free intra-oral scans to monitor their dental health via their smartphones.

Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Nileshkumar Dubey, NUS High School Team consisting of Karis Yuen Xin Er, Manivannan Harini, and Sean Lim Shii-An won the Silver Award in the recent HealthTec-BES Design Challenge. The team has gone on to win the Gold Award in the Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Chemistry category, as well as the grand prix for the best overall project at the Yakutia International Science Fair.

Dr. Nicholas Lim won the Korean Academy of Prosthodontics Award at The 13th Asian Academy of Prosthodontics (AAP) Congress for his project titled "Prevalence and risk factors of erosive tooth wear among young adults in the Singapore military". Dr. Lim started the project after discovering there was a lack of epidemiological data on erosive tooth wear in Singapore.
