Despite significant advances in implantology, inadequate pre-surgical radiographic assessment & treatment planning remain among the leading contributors to implantrelated complications and implant failure.
Although oral and dental surgery has been proven to be effective and predictable, several factors influence the success of the treatment outcomes. These include basic requirements, such as incision techniques, flap design and suturing practices.
Dental plaque has long been established as the primary etiological factor in periodontal disease. However, in medically and prosthetically complex patients, periodontal diagnosis, treatment planning and management can become significantly more challenging. Through real-life cases, this talk explores how systemic conditions and medications can complicate even routine periodontal care. Practical clinical tips, common pitfalls and decisionmaking strategies relevant to general dental practitioners will be discussed.
