The landscape of dental education in Singapore has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades, driven by technological advancements, evolving demographics, and an increasing demand for specialized expertise. In this dynamic environment, the Centre for Advanced Dental Education (CADE) was established in 2006, reflecting our Faculty's commitment to excellence in continuing dental education.
CADE's timely inception, just prior to the introduction of mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements by the Singapore Dental Council in 2007 and the subsequent enactment in the Dental Registration Act of 2008, positioned us at the forefront of dental education in Singapore and the larger region. This strategic foresight aligns with our nation’s ambition to be a hub of medical excellence.
In parallel, the Graduate School plays a vital role in training specialists through the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) programs across six specialties. By collaborating with renowned training centers such as NUCOHS, NDCS, KKWCH, and HPB, we ensure that our graduates are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their respective fields.
Our dedication to fostering excellence is exemplified through events such as the Faculty of Dentistry Symposium and the NUS Clinical Dentistry Symposium, which serve as vibrant platforms for the convergence of knowledge and innovation. Additionally, the formation of DentAlliance signifies another pivotal milestone in our journey, as we proudly collaborate with esteemed institutions such as King’s College London, the University of North Carolina, and The University of Melbourne.
As we continue to expand and enhance our educational offerings, I am confident that CADE, alongside the Graduate School, will remain a cornerstone in advancing dental education and supporting the professional growth of dental practitioners throughout the region. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together.
