On 16 May 2026, NUS Dentistry successfully hosted the workshop, Principles of Flap Design & Bone Grafting in Regenerative Dental Surgery, bringing together dental professionals and clinicians for an afternoon of learning, discussion, and practical training in regenerative dental surgery.
Held as part of the inaugural NUS Dentistry–NUCOHS Clinical Dentistry and Research Symposium (CDARS), the workshop explored the latest principles, technologies, and clinical techniques in guided bone regeneration and regenerative oral surgery.
The workshop commenced with an opening address by Associate Professor Raymond Wong Chung Wen, Vice Dean (Graduate Studies and Lifelong Learning) at NUS Dentistry. Participants then heard from an esteemed panel of local and international speakers, including:
A key highlight of the workshop was the hands-on training session led by Dr Timothy Sng, Assoc Prof Intekhab Islam and Assoc Prof Raymond Wong. Participants practised flap design and incisions, membrane handling, primary closure and suturing techniques using dry models, allowing them to apply the concepts discussed during the lectures in a supervised setting.
The workshop provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and professional development, equipping participants with evidence-based approaches and practical techniques to enhance regenerative dental procedures in their daily clinical practice.
