Overview

The Oral Microbiology and Immunology Research Group delves into the core mechanisms of oral diseases, forming the foundation for translational research to advance oral and craniofacial care.

Key Research Domains

  • Understanding the interactions between the oral microbiome and host inflammatory oral diseases that drive common oral diseases e.g. periodontal disease, oral ulcers, and oral mucositis

  • Exploring the impact of host-microbiome interactions on systemic health e.g. diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease
  • Developing novel diagnostic and prognostic markers for oral lesions, periodontal disease, and systemic health
  • Developing strategies to engineer symbiotic oral microbiota through probiotics, prebiotics, and novel agents
