This lecture provides an overview of the molecular and microbial pathogenesis of periodontitis, emphasizing the roles of dental biofilm and host-related risk factors such as smoking and diabetes. It explores current treatment approaches, including mechanical and adjunctive chemical plaque control, and highlights the limitations of conventional therapies in achieving true tissue regeneration.
The BDS Class of 1985 marked their 40th Anniversary with a joyful gathering at NUS Faculty of Dentistry on 5 July 2025. The evening was filled with laughter and heartfelt reminiscing as classmates reconnected to celebrate four decades of friendship.
The BDS Class of 2010 reunited on 12 July 2025 at NUS Faculty of Dentistry for an evening filled with joy, nostalgia, and laughter. Attendees enjoyed a guided tour of the various facilities, including the L5 clinic and grad lab, L6 and L7 clinics, as well as the L9 Simulation Lab, reminiscing about their student days spent learning and growing together.
Professor Fitcher will conduct two lectures to discuss the scope of OMS in Germany and illustrate with clinical examples, as well as current and innovative ideas of oral and maxillofacial trauma will be discussed.
On 20 September 2025, the Dentistry Class of 2015 marked their 10-year reunion with a family-friendly celebration.
The BDS Class of 1975 returned to the Faculty on 24 November 2025 for a joyous 50th Anniversary Reunion, commemorating five decades of friendship, professional legacy, and the establishment of a named bursary in their honour. The celebration opened with a warm and heartfelt Welcome Address by Faculty Alumni Representative, Dr Eugene Loh. Alumni were then treated to an exclusive tour of the Faculty’s building, sparking excitement as they explored state-of-the-art facilities far removed from their student days. A proud and meaningful moment followed with the presentation of the BDS Class of 1975 gift to the Faculty. The festivities concluded with the cutting of the golden anniversary cake and lively reminiscing over treasured photographs from their time at the Faculty, filling the room with laughter and shared memories.
