The inaugural Clinical Dentistry and Research Symposium (CDARS), jointly organised by the NUS Faculty of Dentistry’s Centre for Advanced Dental Education and National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore, was successfully held on 17 May 2026 at the NUHS Auditorium. This full-day symposium brought together close to 150 participants, including dental professionals, researchers, educators, students, and industry partners, for a day of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and professional networking.
The symposium commenced with an opening address by Professor Chris Peck, Dean of NUS Faculty of Dentistry, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of advancing clinical dentistry through research and innovation.
Participants gained insights from an esteemed line-up of local and international speakers, including Prof Alvin G. Wee, Prof Peng Xin, Prof Philip Preshaw, Assoc Prof Georgios Tsilingaridis, Dr Lai Ye Choung and Dr Yong Chee Weng. The programme featured a diverse range of topics across restorative dentistry, periodontology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, and digital innovations in clinical practice.
Throughout the day, participants also explored the trade exhibition outside the auditorium, where industry partners showcased the latest dental technologies, products, and innovations. This symposium created valuable opportunities for attendees to network, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations with peers and industry representatives.
Towards the end of the day, there was an engaging panel discussion on the management of medically complex patients, moderated by Dr Gabriel Lee and featuring panellists Assoc Prof Catherine Hong, Assoc Prof Georgios Tsilingaridis, Assoc Prof Intekhab Islam, and Dr Tay Chong Meng. This interactive discussion encouraged meaningful dialogue and practical sharing among clinicians and participants.
The event concluded with a closing address by Assoc Prof Raymond Wong, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Lifelong Learning at NUS Dentistry, who reflected on the valuable discussions and meaningful exchanges that took place throughout the day.
