With Singapore ranking first among 109 countries in terms of AI maturity (defined as a country’s readiness for AI innovation) in a Coursera report that measured global skill levels in business, tech, and data science based on online learning trends, The Straits Times mentions that interest in generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) is on the rise in the country.

In the same vein, we are proud to feature our very own Assistant Professor Charlene Goh who’s been making inroads into revolutionising the battle against dental caries together with collaborators from the NUS School of Computing and Smart Systems Institute with their Dental Diet Diary – a mobile app that uses AI to recognise food from photos and offer personalised, dental-focused dietary feedback. Now that’s a two-bit solution!

“We’ve created a tool that supports oral health in a way that feels personal and relevant by narrowing the focus to caries prevention and designing around local diets.” – Asst Prof Charlene Goh

We look forward to putting this app to good use once it goes live!
